I love dirty rap music just as much as the next gal. In fact, I blare every Post Malone song I can think of on my way to and from work, just to make sure I’ve still got it. (I do.)
At the same time, though, I am a firm believer that what you put into your mind eventually comes back out. Scientifically, this makes sense. You eat a meal and it eventually comes back out. (Is this appropriate to talk about?) What I’m getting at is quite simply really, and I’m pretty sure it’s on a poster in a high school classroom somewhere: “Your thoughts become your beliefs, and beliefs turn into actions.” I know this to be true. I am not very good at memorizing Bible verses. Not because I don’t have a good memory, but because I can’t stay interested long enough. Sounds bad, but I keep it real. In contrast, I can remember lyrics after hearing a song once. Might as well listen to christian music and remember those lyrics… two birds, one stone.
Now, I will go on record saying I cannot stand traditional Christian music. I don’t know what it is, but reading from hymn books makes me snore with boredom. The worship music I connect to is the more traditional stuff, that makes you almost feel like you are at a rock concert. You may love the traditional songs, and more power to ya! Whatever sets your soul on fire, listen to those things. Make it a point to only play uplifting music in your car, even just for a week, and watch how your attitude shifts in a positive direction. I promise y’all, it works!
I thought it may be helpful to give you guys a playlist of some of my all-time favorite worships songs. Some of these are new, some have been around for years, but all have the same message: Our Father is for us, he is good ALL of the time, and we are HIS. I don’t know about y’all, but I want to pump my mind so full of these truths that I literally cannot keep them to myself. Ya with me?
